I have always been non-violent and pacifist by nature, and kind to pets and humans alike. I am blessed with a clear mind in crisis situations, and helped out people in need when I could. From following my heart and stopping to help a stranded motorist with my AAA card, to one time following an impaired driver across state lines while reporting them to the authorities. When he hit a series of parked cars and finally came to a stop I grabbed his keys until the police arrived. It turned out that he wasn't drunk, but was a priest that had just received word of his brother's death and was in shock. I kept him from getting a hit-and-run.
I have had many different jobs in my life. Usually I stayed the longest at the ones where I was helping people in need (tow-truck driver, taxi driver, security guard, caretaker/orderly for quadriplegic businessman, et cetera.)
I have always felt a connection with people, especially seniors. They have special needs and one time, while working as a tow truck driver and elderly gentleman called for what seemed like a ridiculous reason, he couldn't get the car out of park (he wasn't putting his foot on the brake pedal to release the interlock.) After talking with him for a few minutes, I realized that the real reason that I was called there was because he had lost his wife in a car jacking while he ran into a convenience store. She was shot and died. He was basically lonely and needed someone to talk to. That was the real reason for the call. I talked with him for about an hour (I was only working on commission anyway.) He was much happier when I left. That felt good. It is nice to feel like I made a difference.
I have quit jobs when they asked me to do something that I felt was immoral or wrong (when a sales job required dishonest business practices.)
I started going to college in 2005 and everything seemed to click and fall into place. I felt a calling and focused full-time on my education.
I have helped a friend through some difficult times when his father died. I also saved his mother's life three times in one year.
