Let me be honest – I thought worrying about wedding invitations was a waste of time. If you were close enough to me and my wife that you were getting invited, you already knew through personal contact, phone, e-mail or word of mouth from our parents when, where, and how the wedding was taking place. Formality aside, we’re not traditionalists and we didn’t even send out save-the-dates in paper form in an effort to be environmentally conscious. Still, we knew we had to do this, mostly for our older guests and to please our parents. Of all things, invitations ended up causing the biggest fights (even moreso than guest list)Taking all that into consideration, we ended up visiting at least three local paper/stationery shops, looking through every book, Vera Wang, Kate Spade, Checkerboard, Modern Stationery, etc there was to see. Nothing grabbed us except for some extraordinarily expensive options. We couldn’t stomach spending that kind of money on something we didn’t care much about, so that’s when we turned to the web. After getting samples from Magnet Street and WeddingPaperDivas.com we realized Jean M is in a class of its own. The cardstock is just the right weight and sheen, and the printing is sharp, accurate and near indistinguishable from the local stores. The difference is it’s half the price. PLUS, they offer discounts and promo codes. And, the advantage of cutting out the middleman means the order is shipped right to you. You also can design your own cards with their free online tools. The template software is really good for detail-oriented folks like myself. But it’s not as customizable as you may need – for example, we wanted our names sized differently to stand out and adjusting spacing or right/left justifications was impossible online. It works well for simple or standard cards, but otherwise you’ll need to call for final formatting, as I did. One of the other things I liked a lot was their online chat, where representatives could answer questions until midnight EST.The winner in all this for us was that we found a card style that was better-looking and fit our style more than anything in a book at a stationery store. It was a custom-design with two paper layers and two ribbon layers, and had to be hand-assembled at Jean M. That would cost an arm and a leg in the real world. But at Jean M it was a few hundred dollars! We are STILL getting compliments on our invitation. The reason I docked them a star in the rating is that they screwed up the order on the text font for the outside envelopes. We paid for digital calligraphy and they used the wrong font. This, in the grand scheme of things, is minor…. but does indicate a lapse in oversight, since the font was clearly listed on the order form. To their credit, they admitted the error and refunded the cost of the calligraphy (or were willing to rush out the corrected order) For the invitations themselves, we had to go through a couple rounds of proofs and revisions to clear up typos and mistakes on their part – so again, be mindful and plan for a little extra time. It’s $15 per proof, which I found to be obnoxious since I couldn’t understand why I had to pay when they were the ones making mistakes – but they waived it when I complained. I have to echo many other reviewer’s comments here – GET PROOFS! It will save you a lot of hassle and delays. In the end though, the quality of the stationery is worth the effort and cost savings.

The online invite software was easy to use. The end product was beautiful and high quality. It was the one online source that really used great paper and high quality envelopes. I also loved that I could order samples with the colors I wanted (I didn't mind paying for that feature).

We were very excited about how our invitations came out!! They were absolutely beautiful and the quality was excellent! The only thing I thought the company could improve on is allowing customers more customizing options when ordering online. I found that you only have basic options on color and font size when ordering online. I had to order my invitations over the phone with a representative in order to customize things like our names in larger font than the rest of the wording, space out certain sections and choose a different color red. It took me about an hour to order them over the phone. They also charge for each proof which I thought was unnecessary considering you have to rely on their representatives to order invitations if you want specific customizations. The first proof that I received had a few errors that were done on the representative’s part. He spelt my husband’s last name wrong and didn’t add a line at the bottom stating there would be a reception to follow. There were a lot of back and forth emails but the end result was fabulous!

After weeks of searching several invitation websites, I knew I liked Jean M for a few reasons…. Their website was easy to navigate and I liked the customized preview function. Plus they had the best selection. The cons I came across when using Jean M were… 1 – SAMPLES: I ordered several samples in different shades of silver so that I knew which color matched my silver the best. But the samples arrived without a listing of what was sent adn they were not marked with their colors so I had no idea which was which! I contacted customer service to ask and they said there wasn't a record of that info. So I went online to review my order but the sample colors I chose weren’t listed anymore. I really think product samples should be clearly marked with color, price, and name so that it makes for easy reordering....2 – SHIP TIME: After guessing that the pocket invitation I wanted was platinum shimmer, I ordered the platinum shimmer Piper pockets from JeanM on June 22 and estimated ship date was June 23. I also ordered the tiered response and RSVP cards for the pocket. My order shipped 2-3 weeks after the estimated date. 3 – ERRORS IN ORDER: First, I got the wrong pocket color (still don’t know what that was – maybe Slate?). They were ok correcting the issue and sent new pockets, free of charge. I also ordered tiered Response/RSVP cards for the pocket. They are supposed to be layered to where you can see each title on each tier. Well when I put one card in front of the other, you could not see the title underneath. I called JeanM and they said the cards were cut wrong and that they would reprint at no charge. They resent them, and they were still wrong, exactly the same as before. At that point, my invitations NEEDED to go out right away. Luckily the pocket was a tight enough fit to where I could position the tiered cards a certain way so that you could see the “Reception” heading behind the first tier and they stuck that way. Who knows what happened in the mail though. The quality of the actually invitations were good. Everyone loved them. Seems they have some inefficiencies in order fulfillment though. If you’re going to go with Jean M, my advice is to allow for plenty of time for errors and fixing –at least 4 months before your invitations need to go out…

I ordered cocktail napkins, tissues, and table number holders 2.5 weeks prior to my wedding. The Monday before my wedding, I received a phone call to tell me that both the tissues and the table number holders were discontinued. I then asked when the napkins would arrive and they told me the Wednesday AFTER my wedding. They also then explained that the eggplant color I chose was really more of a red than a purple. You would think a website dealing with weddings would know that they are dealing with time sensitive events!!!!!

I did not enjoy working with Jean M at all. However, the final product was of a high quality and being that I ultimately received over 70% off my order because of their errors, all I can do is inform people of the issues I had. One of the most frustrating things was that there were probably only 2-4 instances of the 12-14 times I called where someone said they would call me back and actually did!You should not submit orders via email which I did to avoid having to spell out each and every line over the phone in order to have one additional blank line added to the pre-formatted entry available on their website. It was several weeks before my invitations were even printed which I understand is because my order was never "assigned" to anyone as a result of coming in via email. Moreover, when I did finally receive my invitations they was a typo on the insert card that was not in the text I had emailed instead of dictating (in the interest of accuracy!). They were quick to turn around the replacement cards but because of weekends this delayed my invitations going out another five days. Overall, the final product is great but I would not recommend using them unless your text fits into their website entry. When we ordered STDs through the website without any changes they came beautifully and quickly.

Great customer service and easy to order. It was nice to just go online and place an easy order, and they were very quick to respond to questions I had about my order. Beautiful product at a reasonable price. We received a LOT of compliments on how nice our invitations were, and they definitely were not as expensive as others we looked at elsewhere.

Overall, I was happy with my invitations but it took a while to get there. Make sure you buy the proofs of everything you order. They're $15 each but it will save you a lot of time and money. When I got my proofs, the only thing that was completely correct was the invitations. All the of enclosure cards had multiple spelling errors, including my name. When I received the final product, the response cards had the same line twice which did not appear on the proof. It was quickly corrected and I received the new cards the following day. My biggest recommendation is to look over everything very carefully.

What an amazing online company! I had reservations about using an online company to do my save the dates, invitations, programs, and place cards, but Jean M did an amazing job. You can order sample paper and ribbon from them so you can see the color and feel the thickness of the paper. Most of the ink colors come in raised printing at no extra charge. I used them for all of our wedding stationary needs and they did not disappoint. Their customer service is very responsive and professional. The website is very user friendly. If all your text doesn't fit in the form online, you can call customer service to give them all the text and they will make it fit. They generally have coupons to save a little on the cost or free shipping if your order is usually over $150. You can request proofs of all your jobs for $15 (worth the peace of mind). All in all I highly recommend Jean M. I found they had the most bang for the buck without having to sacrifice style and quality.
